12 Hour Sebring Result

An action packed race, which saw Ben Summers, Ian Bassi, David Webb and John Jenkins take part in a 52 car field.

Ben has the pressure of qualifying and starting the race. A good, clean lap saw Ben get a 1:57.742 and qualify 26th on the grid. This meant starting in the middle of the pack, and the pressure was high to avoid any incidents on.

At the end of Ben’s first stint, the team had made it up to 10th place. Ian took over for the second stint and exiting the pits, the team came out in 27th place. With the track temps raising, and grip slowly disappearing, it was a tricky stint, and by the end Ian pitted in 12th place.

“It was probably one of my best stints in the last 10 years. The track conditions got trickier each lap, but I still managed to make several passes on the track, and avoid any incidents. There were a few close calls, but I really enjoyed it”

The next 8 hours saw Ben, David and John complete there stints of the race. With David setting the teams fastest lap of the race, a 1:56.892, which frustratingly was just 0.070 of a second slower than the fastest lap in the race.

The great pace by David as the sunset, and John as it got really dark helped the team up to 6th place. With John approaching a few lapped cars, which were proving tricky to get past, the decision was made to pit a few laps early, and with just under 2 hours left, Ian started the penultimate stint exiting the pits in 12th place.

When this stint finished, we pitted in 6th place, and there was still an outside chance of finishing in the top 5. When we exited the pit and came out in 10th place. The team made a few places, and got up to 8th, with 7th place only 10 seconds ahead.

Ian managed to get closer and closer, and on the final lap, was only 1.5 seconds behind, but sadly it was not to be, and the team finished in 8th place.
